3 Wins and 1 Honorable Mention for Ascension in the 2022 Catholic Media Association Book Awards

[Exton, PA, July 11, 2022—]

The leader in faith formation brings home 1st place in “Best Books for Youth Ages 0-10” and “Best New Religious Book Series.”

The Catholic Media Association (CMA) has recognized 4 Ascension titles with honorifics in its annual Book Awards competition.

Ascension, the leader in faith formation, brought home two 1st-place prizes, one 3rd place, and one Honorable Mention, in addition to seeing podcast presenters Fr. Mike Schmitz and Jeff Cavins recognized with the CMA’s prestigious Cardinal John P. Foley Award for their Bible in a Year podcast.

Of particular note is the company’s two awards for children’s books – after launching the Ascension Kids line of products in October 2020, Ascension has received 5 additional awards for the titles produced under that name – two in 2021, and three in 2022.

1st Place in “Best New Religious Book Series”: The Curious Catholic by Fr. Mike Schmitz

“This series includes a collection of devotionals to help everyday Catholics increase their faith and learn about God’s ways. The sections include scriptures, personal stories, and interactive entries to engage readers. The layout and formatting is interesting and unique, with larger font so it can be read by a variety of ages. […] I would pick these up in a bookstore because they are easy to flip through and the lessons are broken up so it doesn’t seem like a daunting amount of text. These books would be great to fit in your luggage for stress-free travel reading.” – CMA Book Awards Website

1st Place in “Best Books for Youth 0 – 10”: Pray and Think Imaginative Rosary Book, Written and Illustrated by Candace Camling

“[This] is an absolutely superb step-by-step introduction to learning to pray the Rosary. The easy-to-understand explanation of each mystery is accompanied by colorful and inspiring artwork that only enhances the interactive learning experience and will provide a solid foundation for building a meditative prayer life.” – CMA Book Awards Website

3rd Place in “Best Books for Youth 11 – 16”: The Great Adventure Kids Catholic Bible Chronicles, Written by Amy Welborn; Illustrated by Michael LaVoy

“A very simple approach to learning and understanding stories of the Bible. The use of a color coded system to identify each time period is such a great tool. After each story the author tells us where in the Bible the story originated. It is helpful if the reader wants to learn more and have a deeper understanding of the story told. While definitely a book for children, it can be read and enjoyed by all family members.” – CMA Book Awards Website

Honorable Mention in “Scripture: Popular Studies“: From Worry to Wonder: A Catholic Guide to Finding Peace Through Scripture Written by Melissa Overmyer

“Even though Catholics know God is all-powerful, worries and negative thoughts can still threaten one’s peace of mind. In From Worry to Wonder: A Catholic Guide to Finding Peace Through Scripture, Melissa Overmyer offers inspiration and practical tips to remember God’s love and power, no matter the circumstances.” – Ascension Website
