Sacred artist Tianna Williams adds to Ascension’s collection of Holy Men & Women Sacred Art with a beautiful new original oil painting of Christ the King.
Catholic sacred artist Tianna Williams has added another striking image to Ascension’s Holy Men & Women Sacred Art Collection: Christ the King. This new image joins Williams’ moving portraits of St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Josephine Bakhita, St. Benedict, and more, all available as prayer cards and sacred paintings for Catholic devotional use at home, at school, and in the parish.

Painted to capture the humility of Christ, this new sacred art gives Catholics a stunning and thought-provoking image to pray with as they meditate on the kingship of Jesus, and reflect on him as king of their lives.
This beautiful depiction of Christ is rich with symbolism, including:
- The halo resembles a golden monstrance, to reflect the divine beauty of Jesus’ Real Presence in the Eucharist
- Jesus is holding the reed that the soldiers presented him with during his Passion after they had crowned him with thorns
- Jesus’ physical characteristics in this painting (hair, eyes, skin tone) strike a balance between familiar images of Christ and the deep olive complexion, dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair he is believed to have had historically
- Jesus’ scarlet robe reveals his vulnerability: Red symbolizes his Passion and is the liturgical color of Good Friday and the feast of Corpus Christi
In the prayer featured on the Christ the King Sacred Art prayer cards, Fr. Josh Johnson invites Catholics into the presence of God, and asks Christ to increase our love and desire for serving him:
“Increase within us the desire to meditate on your wounded body in the Sacred Scriptures and to contemplate your Eucharistic body in the Blessed Sacrament so that we may cultivate the virtue of humility and spend our lives in service of the oppressed, marginalized, disenfranchised, and wounded brothers and sisters throughout our communities.”
The Christ the King sacred art is the perfect companion for the Christ the King Candle and Christ the King Sacred Art Prayer Cards.

Born into a musical ministry family, Tianna Williams has always had a love for art and beauty. After dabbling in various artistic media during her childhood, Tianna began a career in graphic design at the age of 16. For more than a decade now, she has been honing her skills and sense of mission for bringing beauty to the Church through the visual arts.
Shortly after her marriage in 2015, Tianna picked up a paintbrush once again. What started as a few portraits of the modern saints for her daughter’s bedroom soon blossomed into a flourishing ministry and website: Sacred Art By Tianna.
Today, Tianna is a leading Catholic artist who seeks to honor the lives of holy men and women through her paintings. She explains, “As I have painted the faces of Mary and the saints, I feel as though I have developed a beautiful friendship with these holy souls. Each one has challenged me in a unique way—one may call me to perseverance, another to patience, yet another to simplicity. Time and again I have experienced a flood of grace that has allowed me to do what I know I am not capable of. I am deeply humbled to have been called to this work, and profoundly grateful.”
Tianna lives in Saskatchewan, Canada with her husband and children.
