Children Embrace Their Call to Sainthood in New Book, “Saints Come in All Shapes and Sizes”

[Exton, PA, March 28, 2025—]

Saints Come in All Shapes and Sizes shows children that no matter how they look or act—big or small, quiet or loud—they are capable of becoming a saint.

Ascension has released Saints Come in All Shapes and Sizes, an endearing board book that teaches children about the saints and the universal call to sainthood. This lovable addition to the Ascension Kids bookshelf teaches children about the saints through an engaging opposites book and encourages them that they can be saints too.

Written by Patrick O’Hearn and illustrated by Elizabeth Blair, Saints Come in All Shapes and Sizes features approachable and endearing images of 20 Catholic saints. Showcasing men and women who are different in age, ethnicity, appearance, personality traits, and more, this heartwarming book reminds little Catholics that sainthood is accessible to anyone willing to become who God made them to be.

Featuring rhyming text, comparison of opposites like tall and short  and loud and quiet, and engaging imagery, this charming book introduces children to the saints of heaven while showing them they are called to sainthood too.

Author Patrick O’Hearn comments on his goals when creating the book: “I hope that young children will be inspired to become the saint God is calling them to be. Every saint is unique—each comes in their own shape and size. No two saints are alike. The most important thing God is calling us to in this life is holiness: to become a saint. I pray this book touches both parents and children, encouraging them to keep their eyes fixed on our ultimate prize—heaven—and to treasure the uniqueness that defines them. God does not want another St. Thomas Aquinas; he created us to be who we are!”

This book is the perfect companion to My First Interactive Bible,  My First Interactive Mass Book, My First Catholic Bible Stories board book, and other Ascension Kids titles that teach children about the importance of their Catholic Faith and following God.
