New Bible Resource Satisfies Catholics’ Hunger for New Testament Insights

[Exton, PA, March 13, 2025—]

A Catholic Guide to the New Testament, an addition to The Great Adventure® product line, builds on the popular Bible Timeline® Learning System that has helped millions of Catholics read and understand Scripture.

Following the release of its predecessor, A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament, Ascension has released its accompanying biblical resource, A Catholic Guide to the New Testament, a resource for Catholics searching for explanations about the hidden contexts, literary types, and ancient cultures of the New Testament.

Coauthored by The Bible Timeline creator Jeff Cavins, along with theologians Dr. Andrew Swafford, Dr. Jeffrey Morrow, and Dr. Biff Rocha, the newest addition to this beloved line of Bible resources seeks to help Catholics uncover new meaning in the life of Jesus, his words, the apostles’ lives, and discover the New Testament’s role in their lives today.

Featuring introductions to each book, full-color charts, articles, a foreword by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, and more, A Catholic Guide to the New Testament unlocks the hidden details of this divine text and sheds new light on the fulfillment of God’s plan for salvation in Jesus Christ. Nearly 400 pages in length, it immerses Catholics in the world of the New Testament and provides Bible readers with the historical context they need to answer questions about the significance of these books in the history of the Church.

Andrew Swafford comments on the importance of this new resource,

A Catholic Guide to the New Testament builds upon the foundation laid by A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament. The heart of Catholic biblical interpretation—and what really makes the inner dynamism of the Bible come alive—is reading the Old in light of the New and the New in light of the Old. That’s the genius of both of these volumes, bringing the reader into the ‘there and then’ of the text, with maps, charts, and plenty of historical background, but also showing the theological flowering of the Old and New together, especially in light of the Sacraments and the spiritual tradition of the Church. Reading the Bible should not merely inform us—it should change us. This volume aims at facilitating the work of the Spirit in this regard!”

Jeffery Morrow speaks to the guide’s accessibility, calling it “a wonderful resource for ordinary Catholics who want to go deeper into the New Testament.”

As the only introduction to the New Testament based on The Bible Timeline Learning System, this resource was designed as the perfect companion to the popular Great Adventure Bible Study Program, A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament, and the best-selling Great Adventure Catholic Bible.
